Hemp Cruisers - Show continues to burn rubber!

Feedback was very simple, customer wanted to see an entire line of Hemp Cruisers. Not a problem there. Cars never shown are now in the lineup located in old town Eureka. Front row window viewing, free all dang day and night! Stop by and see for yourself. Take one home is even better. Once their gone, their gone. No others like them.

Hawaii & Taiwan - June/July 2025 Think Hawaii is hot? Blast furnace in Taiwan

Great two trips rolled into one. Miss Katy graduated from high school in Honolulu. You can’t miss something this special then headed for the Big Island. Kilauea volcano blowing up, never seen something this amazing. Liquid rock being tossed out like nothing. Still going and even bigger! Daughter paid a Hawaii visit. Only request was to “go to the beach everyday” which we did, very nice. Different one each day. Big thanks to Bill & Stacey for the transport / lodging making it all possible. Don’t forget lost fin but umbrella good to go. Discussion came up, what is close to Hawaii? Hmm not much but much closer to Asia than the mainland. $550bucks for a one way to Taipei thru Japan. No problem. Location in Taipei couldn’t of planned any better. Metro drop for the blue line was right out the door of hotel. Getting around extremely easy once you figure out metro line colors. Taipei Main Station is where you can catch all kinds of trains going to all different places. Pick a place. Hungry? Food is everywhere and cheap, around $5-6bucks USD gets a very stuff your gut kinda meal. Save room with all that food intake, temps now a bit cooler and comfortable, upper 80’s okay. Evening walks in Ximending provide everything you imagine it is after dark. Good places are everywhere never got sick once. Entire city clean and very nice. Better watch your heat intake during the day. I’d do a 4-5hour out and about stuff starting around 9am. Duck in and work on sketches mid day 1-5 or till the sun ducks and hides for the day. Good stuff.

Vancouver Road Stomp!

Wow where does travel time go? It disappears so fast, you walk out the hotel door in the morning and next thing you know. What happened to the day it vaporized once again. This trip was a bit different. International yes but this time I had my own vehicle and drove everywhere ‘cept the ferry crossings. Started in Victoria and drove to the bitter northern end of Port Hardy. Port Alice and McNeill as well. Welcome to Bald Eagle country, unknown if their french bald eagles but they did have white heads. Tofino is a place everyone should see at least once. Long beach and beyond. Take the true Vancouver experience and head north. Shed the hustle and bustle of Nanaimo, its good but go north. Cournteny and Comox really liked. Now entering bald eagle country. Campbell River, Telegraph Cove a place lost in time. Port Alice amazingly beautiful, wow! Ferry system running from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert was only about once a week this time of year. So I back tracked south to Nanaimo, ferried over and spent three rainy days out of four in Vancouver, BC. Welcome big city life and everything that goes with it. Heard more sirens day and night than horns in DaNang. Finished up trip with a stop in Spokane and then Coure d’Alene, Idaho. Logged over three thousand road miles and tons of bird fun. Sketches? Off the charts, good run.

Hemp Cruisers - The Nine Show #9 #9

This Cruiser like most works of Art take a life of their own. From the cool wavey curves on this build came the rest and kinda looks like a surf van of some sort, and that is okay too. #9 will be smoking the tires for one week, one week only. On deck is Dragster City #10, pure Mopar!

Ever wonder whose looking? At your stuff? How

Sometimes I wonder if people might be checking out my stuff. Unless people come up and tell you, which a few have in the past. Most of the time no one knows. When I was doing shows in Arcata, had my fish tank of hanging sharks and various fish. This was right across the street from Hensel hardware. Upon closer inspection of the big window outside revealed some interesting info. It was chock full of nose and forehead prints imprinted into the glass. That was our check of who was looking at stuff in the gallery. No other windows displaying art had these nose and forehead prints. Amazing the stuff you find!

Hemp Cruisers #6 & 7 now showing

Week six and seven combined in this weeks road racing of old town Eureka. Stuff happens when you draw two draws on the same small page. Oh well productivity is paramount. You don’t accomplish anything if you don’t apply yourself. Make stuff happen now, every single day! Go ART!

These Cruisers will be up and running for window view for the next week. Stop on by

Humboldt Bay coloring book

Hemp Cruisers #5

Hemp Cruisers week Five continues! Time flies that fast. Car #5 up and running front window display for all your great curbside viewing, no admission charged. Free all day long, night too. Also did a quick change out and put in “My Whales” two copper whales swimming. This is from private collection and is not for sale. However I foresee a new copper whale coming to life.

Hemp Cruisers & Georgia Long now showing, Arts Alive 1 March 2025

This month for the second in a row the “Space” featured Artist is Georgia Long - Gravitas, oil on canvas, cold wax too. Hemp Cruisers has elbowed my way into the show as well. Week three of fourteen continues. Check out all the great Art. We are located at 620 2nd street, Old Town Eureka.

The show must go on

Flying Copper Contraptions anyone? Yes their still out there flying around “The Space” in Old Town Eureka, 620 2nd to be exact. Yesterday I did a little massaging of the space and moved the Fly Boys up towards the front of the store. Perfect for window viewing and of course shopping! Next months featured artist will be Georgia Long, check her work out you will like. Enjoy!

Humboldt Freedom

Ideas that become reality - Humboldt Freedom the latest to reach that status, nice. Sometimes you gotta toot your own horn, toot toot this ones in the books, el finee! completo! Simple ideas soon morph into something more complex, let the piece take you where it needs to go. Spend the time to make it actually happen. Most importantly finish that bad dog cuz something unfinished is just unfinished. Make it happen.

Doing this build took me back to being a kid in Iowa growing up building car models with my brother, we’d paint em up make em look real. Fast forward now the same except I have to come up with the idea, make the parts and assemble, no big deal thats the fun part. Remember where you came from and you will go far.

2025 has arrived with a bang

Unfortunately it hasn’t been the best of weeks, buddies best friend seeing eye dog Releve unexpectedly died day before NYE, what a serious bummer. So I took a bit of down time to reflect but also to know this hound would of said “get your ass back to work” so I have been, slowly. “Humboldt Freedom” trike sculpture is close to completion but when you add a rider you add that much more time and effort. Let the piece decide where it goes, you will know when it’s time to say “when”. Enjoy the ride, 2025 has arrived!

End of the year what to do?

The big rush of creating new artwork for “Featured Artist” always puts a foot in my backside. Get stuff done now today, do not wait for tomorrow! Looking forward to 2025 many things come to mind. Ferndale sketches are sighted in along with yet another world travel yet to be determined. In talking with a buddy yesterday the topic came up whether art is selling, my answer was simple, no. Just because my artwork does not sell does not mean that gives me a free pass to loaf the rest of my life. I have the natural born talent it would be sad for me not to pursue my art until I can no longer. I see many people with talent that they just waste, how sad. Get Motivated now! For tomorrow may never come. Art on my friends!

Two shows rolled into one. Flying Copper Contraptions & Europe sketches 2024

Had the great opportunity to be the featured Artist for the third month straight so what to do? Get busy and make Art. So I set out and with a buddy who wanted to learn the coppersmith trade. Mike showed up everyday for three weeks, job still incomplete. Lots of learning was had, a humbling expeirence. He said “you make it look easy, which it is not”. Over 100 hours combined effort to pull this one off. Base company is Talon Air with the airplane named Fish Hawk 5 for five props and five screw ups by Mike. Enjoy the ride! Arts Alive Dec 7, 2024
